It is Keizer Art Association's privilege and distinct pleasure to honor Janna Curtis as our Artist of the month. Janna is an accomplished and recognized fabric artist, and valued member of Keizer Art Association.

After graduating with a degree in biology, Janna decided teaching would be a good career path so she obtained her teaching credential. She then transitioned to information technology where she supported advanced aircraft programs for the USN. While working in this field she obtained a master’s degree in counselling and transition back to teaching where she is currently employed.

Around the year 2000, Janna wanted to make a quilt for her mother. Not knowing too much about quilting she took a class and fell in love with the art.

Since that time Janna has created dozens of quilts for family, friends, and for sale. The initial quality of her quilts was excellent and has improved over the years. Janna won multiple ribbons, including some first place, at the Oregon State Fair, and the Polk County Fair.

Janna helped start a local Salem Quilting Group that meets monthly. She often demonstrates and makes presentations about quilting techniques and the quilting process. She is happy to share her experience and knowledge about materials and tools as well as patterns. Janna is happy to help anyone who has questions about quilting.
